Sri has a very interesting story which explains her preparations in high school that helped her get accepted into one of the more prestigious majors at a top tier university. Contrary to the belief her friends had about finding college essay examples online to gain an edge, she realized that it’s the personal narrative that makes a reader say “yes” to a prospective student.
Her personality allowed Sri to be open for new experiences, ultimately leading towards an interest in the biomedical concentration. Although she began with other aspirations such as aerospace and medical school, her long-term vision helped inspire her concentration. Over time she developed into someone who was sure about her field because of the unique interactions, volunteer time, personal tragedy, and a desire to develop beyond the classroom.
It was apparent to me early on that Sri has the character, personal qualities, basically the non-academic attributes that would take her far. What I enjoyed most about guiding her was how genuine she is. Sometimes I can gauge how far a student can go in the college process within a few minutes of speaking with them and reviewing their transcripts. What I hope viewers take away from this interview is a genuine understanding of those attributes that are cultivated from a young age that carry through to the final stage of applying to college. I’ve learned that there is a pivotal stage just before high school that can facilitate a path towards success, regardless of where they attend college. This takes shape through the conversations at home with someone the student looks up to. How they plan for things, the attention to details, maybe even a motto to live by. All of these seemingly insignificant character traits have become a pattern among those who I’ve been fortunate enough to share in their academic success. Enjoy.
